hi i’m jason.
i am a photographer living in seattle washington. i was born and raised in virginia, and moved to the west coast in the fall of 2018.
i spend a lot of time in the mountains and forests of the american west on foot and bicycle. to support my life financially, i sell my labor in restaurants.
my pictures are the result of a deep, contemplative looking at the world as i move through it, often with a focus on formal qualities of shadow within the frame. i try to convey the feeling of mono-no-aware (物の哀れ), or a gentle sadness at the impermanence of all things, through commonplace scenes in urban and natural settings. my work is presented in the form of books, some of which i make by hand, others i have printed.
